Swap meet at Sloans in Murfreesboro
I don't remember this being an annual thing, but I do remember a bike show there a couple of years back that had some vintage bike clubs there and the older gents were pretty cool to talk to. I may have to check it out.

Natchez Trace
Did the whole thing over two days last weekend. My professional opinion? Turn back north at the TN/AL border. All the best riding is in TN. Seriously. I can now say I rode the whole trace, but will spend the rest of my life wondering why.

Pics from the Spring Thaw Swap
I made it to the swap about 2pm, small crowd this year, at least it seemed that way to me. More parts than I have seen in recent years, and most of the same bikes you see every year. Lots of Easter eggs, a few "rats" some nice customs and some awesome vintage stock bikes. Only took a few pics, mostly because I am picky. I like bikes that look like they can be ridden. Of the few of those I saw, I will share. I know a lot of work goes into these bikes, and I personally have never built a choppy, but I dont have to be a chef to tell you that the food tastes like shit. Both barrels productions put on a great show, and I cant wait for next years event. There was a Norton club there too, but like a dumbass I forgot to take photos of their bikes. Photos may suck, I'm not a photographer.
Anyhoo on to the bikes.
This 400 reminded me of the one my dad had.
I just liked this one, dunno why from the crappy photo
I thought this Indian was cool until I overheard the builder pointing out all the bit he added on from cars and other non motorcycle bits. The bike is still cool, but fuck man, if shit needs to be pointed out to someone, you're doing it wrong.
this one was next to the Indian and I would like to know what the engine is if anyone knows.
No photos of the main floor of the event with all the vendors...maybe next time.

Last Sunday's Flat Track Race in Lebanon
The Vintage flat track race and swap meet was a good waste of an afternoon! It was my first time watching any sort of motorcycle race, and while they didn't seem to be going all that fast, most of the racers being in their 60's made it seem okay.
The swap meet was tiny and the bike show was filled with a lot of the usual bikes. I am including the pic of the sporty because it passed me on I-40 so I know it was ridden in.
The coolest thing there was the home-built an older gentleman made from a Crowley engine. he never took it off the trailer but he started it for me and answered all my questions. It was fun to stand around the trailer and listen to all the "bikers" come up and complement the guy on his Indian. Or say how they used to have a neighbor who had one like it growing up. Dude made the frame and the saddle bags hold the battery and the radiator.

10 miles of curves between Woodbury and Auburntown
If any of you guys find yourself near Woodbury or Auburntown, do yourself a favor and ride TN-145. Lots of fun, and little traffic. Watch out for the farmer herding his goats across the road at a 90 degree turn closer to Woodbury though.
Get there from old TN-96 or US-70s

Any body get out there this weekend?
I didn't get to do as much riding as I would've liked, but I did make a quick trip up to Columbia via Mt. Pleasant and back down Campbellsville Pike.

An Oldie but Goodie
This is one of my favorite rides. An old standby. If you've got three hours to kill, I suggest you do the following:
Get yourself to Waynesboro. Catch TN 13 at the town square. Head North. After about 13 or 14 miles, you'll see the TN 48 intersection. Now the ride to Hohenwald on Hwy 48 is nice, but the real fun begins just after this intersection when a series of tight turns leads you into the Flatwoods community.
Once past Flatwoods, stay on Hwy 13 N to Lobelville and catch TN 438 E. You will not regret taking this road. There is a ton of awesome scenery and plenty of curves to keep you interested. One warning. Be sure to keep an eye out for these cats:

Ride 438 E until it intersects with TN 50 E. Take Hwy 50 E to Centerville; then take TN 100 W until you reach the TN 48 S intersection. Hwy 48 S will take you into Hohenwald. Once in Hohenwald, I usually take TN 20 into Summertown.
Any variation on this ride will be great. Middle Tennessee is beautiful, especially this time of year.

Bored Biker?
This weekend is the 4th annual swap meet at Cyclemo's in Red Boiling Springs. The event kicked off today and will continue through the Sunday. Better get out there before all the good stuff is gone! Even if your ride doesn't need any parts, you can still kick back and listen to the live music, watch some field games, and eat some killer food.
Here is a little taste of what to find in the museum, don't want to give it all away...

Upcomin' Shindigs
Deep into the riding season, here are some events to break up your normal strech of road.
This weekend at Deal's Gap is going to be a huge one. Labor Day always brings a crowd out but on top of that there are some great parties going down in the area.

While in the neighborhood, ride over to Fontanta Village for LakeAlooza! Fireworks, food, music, and lots more. Check the site out here.
Here in a few weeks there is another weekend of fun going down at Cyclemo's in Red Boiling Springs.

Dragon Update
The rock slide on "The Dragon" has been cleared for a few weeks now, opening up the TN side of US129. Traffic is picking back up along with a strong law enforcement presence. The side effect of having the road open is that semi-trucks are back, so if you are planning a trip make sure to play safe and keep a look out for other riders and cars.

ROCK SLIDES!!
Route 129 (The Dragon) is cut off on the NC State line due to Rock slides....
The following information is from www.tailofthedragon.com :
The rock slide on US 129 is located between the Dragon and Happy Valley Road/Foothills Parkway. US 129 has been closed at the TN/NC State Line by Tennessee making the Dragon itself inaccessable. There are mixed reports from TDOT on reopening. One says reopen will be March 26, the other gives no date. The only alternatives are the Cherohala Skyway US 441 through the Great Smoky Mountains. There are many great roads in North Carolina. Use this opportunity to run the Moonshiner28. Watch for weather updates on the Cherohala.
Also be aware the TN 73 Little River Road is closed. It is scheduled to reopen Sunday March 21.
You can also keep up to date on all the Dragon info @ www.dealsgap.com
